Descent Into Avernus begins in the city of Baldur’s Gate as it faces corruption and chaos, with a refugee crisis from the holy city of Elturel. The adventure’s goal is to stop Zariel, Archdevil of Avernus, from perpetuating the Blood War. Players are tasked with saving Elturel by journeying into Avernus, the first layer of the Nine Hells, where they must navigate dangerous deals, confront infernal war machines, and potentially broker peace in the Blood War.
